The Diana Finegan Story
After she graduated early from New Testament Christian School, Diana Finegan was a teenager on a mission. She enrolled at Central Florida CC and became the first in her family to attend college.
Just a few years later, she was the youngest person in the state to serve as executive director of a domestic violence center.
At the Citrus Abuse Shelter Association (CASA) Diana found her calling. She helped thousands of women and children, worked with local judges and law enforcement, and developed a Healthy Relationship program for County schools. She was recognized for the high standards, innovative training and community outreach she initiated.
Always a staunch conservative, Diana balanced CASA’s budgets and received perfect financial audits. With demand growing for its life-changing – often lifesaving – services, Diana spearheaded the drive for a new shelter and outreach facility in 2005 that continues to help families in crisis.
Four years ago Diana campaigned to be a strong voice for taxpayers, to protect our quality of life, and to ensure that growth in Citrus County is managed responsibly and protects our environment—and that’s exactly what she has done.
County Commissioner Finegan has focused on fiscal accountability, transparency in government, and preserving the natural beauty and resources that make Citrus County special. She has scrutinized the budget, brought forth new ordinances that strengthen government transparency, saved citizens millions of dollars by completely changing wastewater projects, and worked on a program to clean up Citrus County.
We can count on Diana Finegan to put a fiscally responsible plan in place for infrastructure and hold development accountable on a case by case basis.
